About Shelb.GT
I'm originally from San Francisco CA but have been fortunate enough to spend 2020 in the LA metro area. I'm 24 years old and a lot of people don't know it but I have a Master's degree and have been working for a computer software/tech company for the last 2 years. My passion for cars started at a young age, and was fostered by my dad who’s a huge car enthusiast (hence my name). He’s been taking me to the race track and car shows ever since I can remember. I started drag racing as soon as I got my licence and was the season champion in 2013. Being one of two girls on the track was always kind of a weird feeling because everyone would refer to you as "the girl" but I like to see that that's slowly changing in the automotive world - I'd like to work to change it a little more! This year I got to learn more about circuit racing and had fun with a POC spec boxster and GT4 class race car at Willow Springs. I hope to become more involved with POC in the future and definitely hope to get my own race car and start partaking in actual races!
What are your current cars?
A porsche GT4 (fun car) and Macan S (fun daily).
What is your dream car?
A Porsche 993 Turbo S or 935 (not for the road)
What is your go-to mod?
Window tint!! Not necessarily a "mod" but I don't like to be seen!! Otherwise definitely something to make the car louder (headers, exhaust etc)
What is your guilty pleasure?
Driving my boyfriend's 3rs when he's not looking, ooooo that PDK!!
What is your advice to any young car enthusiast?
You don't have to have an expensive car to be a car enthusiast. One of my favorite projects to date was my BMW e46. Forget about what's "trendy" or will give you "clout" and focus on what you want and like and also what's reasonably attainable. Don't spread yourself thin but also don't stop working until you reach your goals!!
At the beginning of this year, my goal was to get an M2 Comp, but I decided that if I was going to set goals, why not set them high? It took a little longer, but I was able to save up money to get one of my dream cars (GT4). I don't regret it at all and it was worth the extra work and time.
